KEPL awarded by National Convention of Quality Concepts

Pune, 3rd February2016:Pune-headquartered Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Ltd (KEPL), a joint venture of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL), won excellenceaward at the“29th National Convention of Quality Concepts (NCQC-2015)”, duringDecember18 –21,2015 in Chennai, India. KEPL Team was qualified and invited for this convention after their grand success in the 30th Annual Chapter Convention, organised by Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Pune on September 05, 2015. KEPL case study was highly appreciated and awarded with the “Gold Trophy”. “Make in India- a vision through quality concepts” was the theme in this convention. The convention programmes were categorised in QC and allied Case study, Model Exhibition, Skit contest, essay/poster/slogan/poem competition and knowledge test. KEPLteam “JIDNYASA”participated and presented acase study on “Reduction in Set-up and Adjustment Loss using SMED technique” under allied-Kaizen category. The presentation flow started with the introduction of Kirloskar Group andits uniqueness. The Case Study started with an introduction, GEMBA followed by systematic problem solving steps like Problem Identification, Root Cause Analysis, Permanent solution amongst available alternatives, Kaizen Theme and Kaizen Idea, Implementation and benefits, Horizontal deployment of Kaizen Theme etc. The effective use of Problem solving tools and techniques was demonstrated through this case study. The presentation was concluded with an interactive session of questions and answers. SS Katare, Plant Head, KEPL said:“We at KEPL are always sharing the best practices on such platforms. We are honoured to receive this award from QCFI and NCQC for our quality and Kaizen improvement practices. This is yet another step towards the journey from Good to Great. We look forward to receiving more such recognitions in the coming yearwhich will further encourage our Kaizen culture”. Established in 1982, QCFI is engaged in propagation of philosophy and implementation of Quality Concepts across the country. QCFI quality concepts are adopted in most of the industrial and service organisations both in public and private sector through education, training programme and workshops. QCFI contributes its knowledge and experience to develop “Skill” in the nation. KEPL recently received awards from Pune Divisional Productivity Council (PDPC), Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at various level competitions.
