Polypropylene's (PP) intrinsic properties such high stiffness, better tensile strength and resistant toward acids, alkalis and solvents, above all it has an edge of cost advantage over various other other thermoplastic polymers. Due to these advantages Polypropylene has secured its position in various range of consumer and industrial products. Polypropylene (PP) is  manufactured by several high-volume forming methods. In addition, its low density and earlier cost advantage over other thermoplastic polymers made it suitable for applications that were weight and cost conscious.
The total global demand of 36.5 million tons in the year 2009, Asia held the largest share of 51.9% followed by Europe with 22.3%. The demand in Asia is led by China and India.
