40 years of Bosch Rexroth in India:

The most modern machinery produces metal components to the thousandth of a millimeter, engineers are working on high-performance computers and are developing new system solutions for the Indian market: The plant in Ahmedabad is one of the newest Bosch Rexroth AG plants and can still look back on a 40 year history. A joint venture for the licensed production of German hydraulics components has become an important high-tech location for Bosch Rexroth. The newest system solutions, developed and produced by Bosch Rexroth in India, are improving the performance of Indian tractors and are reducing diesel consumption. February 18, 1974 marks the beginning of a German-Indian success story. The joint venture Rexroth Maneklal Ltd. began with the official entry in the commercial register. Two years later, the licensed production of Rexroth components already started at the facility of the Indian partner Maneklal in Ahmedabad. The young company expanded quickly and constructed a customizing unit for hydraulic power units and linear motion technology in Bangalore. After only a few years, sales started growing steadily. Since then, hydraulics solutions from Bosch Rexroth have been providing strong and exact motions to numerous Indian customers. Hydraulic pumps produced are at work in hundreds of thousands of Indian tractors. With the continuing development of the Indian economy, Bosch Rexroth in India has changed, as well. The joint venture has turned into a one hundred percent affiliate of Bosch Rexroth AG. Moreover, the Indian company has taken over more and more tasks that had previously been carried out from Germany. “Here, we have established the know-how and the capacities to develop products and system solutions that are tailor-made for Indian demands,” Dr. Johannes Grobe, Managing Director of Bosch Rexroth in India, emphasizes. “Our Indian engineers and associates have extraordinary training and are working with all their energy to realize sustainable, energy efficient solutions for mechanical engineering in India.” Bosch Rexroth is a leading supplier worldwide for mechanical engineering. The components and system solutions are used in mobile machines, industrial applications and renewable energies. “For the next few years, we are expecting an above-average growth in India,” Grobe confirms. For this reason, in Ahmedabad, Bosch Rexroth has constructed a highly modern plant that commenced its operations in 2013. There, the company is also producing components for the newest system solution: an electrohydraulic hitch control for tractors. It was developed based on a German platform in India and it fulfills Indian demands perfectly. Currently, the company is employing approximately 880 associates in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, as well as in eight sales locations, three service centers and one training center. “The associates of Bosch Rexroth in India are exceptionally motivated and feel responsible for their customers,” the Managing Director emphasizes. “Their efforts in the last 40 years are the foundation for our future success.”
