Alstom bags Rs 2,800 crore contract

Alstom bags Rs 2,800 crore contract from Power Grid

French firm Alstom today said it has bagged a Rs 2,800 crore contract from state-run Power Grid Corp for building a 1,365-km transmission line from Chhattisgarh to Haryana.
"Alstom has been awarded a turnkey contract worth approximately 400 million Euros (Rs 2,800 crore) by Power Grid Corp to connect Champa (Chhattisgarh) to Kurukshetra (Haryana) using ultra high voltage direct current technology," the company said in a statement here.
Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will deliver valves, 32 converter transformers, gas-and air-insulated switchgear and substation equipment, communication and supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA).
The scope of work includes overall project management, studies, design, engineering, training, manufacture, civil works at site, erection, site testing and commissioning.

In India, Alstom has supplied equipment for transmission networks in Vizag (Andhra Pradesh), Chandrapur (Maharashtra) and Sasaram (Bihar).
