Bhilai steel plant bags \'PM\'s Troph

Bhilai steel plant bags 'PM's Trophy' for the tenth time

Bhilai Steel Plant, one of Steel Authority of India's flagship units, has bagged the PM's Trophy for best integrated steel plant in the country for the tenth time.
The prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to give away the trophy to Bhilai Steel Plant, for its performance in 2009-10 at a function at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday evening.
Pankaj Gautam, CEO of Bhilai steel plant would be receiving the trophy on the occasion. The award is based on a plant's overall performance and customer satisfaction level after an on-the-spot assessment made by a panel of judges.
The award consists of a cash component of Rs 2 crore.Bhilai has earlier won the Prime Minister's Trophy for Best Integrated Steel Plant in the country nine times for the years 1992-93, 1993-94, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2003-04 and 04-05, 2006-07 and 2007-08.
Bhilai Steel Plant which is the country's leading producer of rails and heavy structurals, was once again been adjudged as the best in the domestic steel industry for 2009-10 based on all parameters of evaluation.

Incidentally, Mr Gautam is due to retire on August 31, 2012 with Shri Chandrasekharan poised to take over as the plant's new CEO.
