The filtration technology is mainly implemented for the removal of suspended impurities along with odor and color, thus providing limited polishing to water and wastewater. Depending upon the media (it can be sand, anthracite, activated carbon or filter cartridges) that is used for filtration, the names of the filters vary. Based upon the requirement the medium/media are placed in a pressurized steel vessel, and water or wastewater is passed through the bed in order to remove the sediment contaminants from the water.
